With the win, Memphis swept the regular season series from Louisville for the first time since 1996-1997. The Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team played their first season in 1920.

The Bison whipped Towson 35-7 before a rocking 19,802 fan base at Toyota Stadium to complete a perfect season and become the second Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) program to win a third straight national championship. Overall, the Bison were 43-2 the last three seasons, and their senior class was 52-7 with four straight trips to at least the FCS quarterfinals.
